REMEA opens a contaminated soil treatment and recovery platform

At the end of July, in Gaillon in the Eure department, REMEA obtained a prefectoral decree authorising it to transport and treat contaminated soil at its site on the banks of the Seine. Each year, this huge building will receive and treat almost 128,000 tonnes of contaminated soil from Normandy, the Greater Paris region and other neighbouring regions.

The contaminated soil frequently comes from construction site excavations or sludge tanks on industrial sites. When they cannot be treated locally (due to lack of space, excessively high treatment threshold, etc.), they can be taken to the Gaillon platform for remediation. Once treated, the contaminated soil and sludge are recovered.

This soil can be transported in two ways:

  • By land
  • By river, along the Seine Paris-Le Havre route. The site includes a quay and a grab bucket for large-scale transport.

Work to develop the site is almost complete and operations are due to begin at the start of October 2020.

The entire REMEA team is at your disposal for more information and for future collaborations!
